American Airlines And Royal Air Maroc Launch Codeshare Agreement
American Airlines has launched a reciprocal codeshare agreement with Moroccos largest airline, Royal Air Maroc, to add new options for travel to Morocco starting Dec. 26.
Americans customers will be able to purchase select Royal Air Maroc flights to Casablanca, Morocco , which will provide seamless connecting service to Marrakech, Morocco . These flights are available for sale now for travel beginning December 26. The codeshare will expand to additional cities across the African continent in early 2020.
Beginning in early 2020, the codeshare agreement will provide Americans customers access to popular destinations in Africa, including:
- Abidjan, Cote dIvoire
- Monrovia, Liberia
The codeshare will also allow Royal Air Maroc customers to connect to new destinations throughout Americans domestic network beginning Dec. 26.
American will begin seasonal service to CMN June 4 as the only U.S. carrier with nonstop service to Morocco, which will be operated three times per week. Flights are available for purchase now.

Royal Air Maroc is joining other carriers by voluntarily suspending indefinitely the use of its new Boeing 737-8 MAX 8 aircraft as of today. Royal Air Marocs CEO, Abdelhamid Addou, stated the company would suspend all MAX flights.

Moroccos airline Royal Air Maroc said it will resume international flights to over 50 destinations starting from February 7.

Royal Air Maroc flights and destinations will gradually increase overtimes, the company wrote in a press release.

Royal Air Maroc Is Coming To Boston
Royal Air Maroc has announced the launch of new service to Boston Logan International Airport. As part of ongoing efforts to enhance its network and better serve its customers, Royal Air Maroc will begin nonstop service between Logan International Airport and Casablanca Mohamed V and will be operated by 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft which features a two-class cabin with 18 Business Class fully lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.
The new route will commence on June 22, 2019 with three weekly flights.
BOS will be the fourth nonstop route to the USA and the seventh to the Americas.

With the resumption of the tourism sector and the opening of air borders, Moroccan airlines are already planning their summer programmes. In view of the new normality in the air, Royal Air Maroc has presented its new summer packages to the public, with plans to reinstate the routes suspended during the pandemic.
The airline announced this in a statement. RAM plans to cover almost 90% of its pre-pandemic network, where it will resume connections to territories that were suspended during the virus crisis and where, for fear of spreading contagion, routes were cancelled.
“As a major player in domestic tourism, Royal Air Maroc has always supported the sector, and even more so in times of crisis, being almost the only operator to have maintained its flights to our country, despite major operational and financial difficulties,” said Hamid Addou, CEO of the Moroccan airline.
The national carrier will offer six million seats, which will be distributed on 80 international routes. In addition, it has also been announced that new routes will be established to places such as Tel Aviv and Dubai. The Emirati city will be linked to Casablanca via a new route map.

Unfortunately, I was unable to earn American Airlines AAdvantage miles for my flight because Royal Air Maroc did not become a Oneworld member until April 1st and my flight was in February.
To get to Casablanca, we had a flight from Marrakesh, also on Royal Air Maroc. The group arrived at Marrakesh Menara Airport at 7:30 a.m. to check in for my 9:55 a.m. flight to Casablanca Airport , where we had a connecting flight. to return to the US. through a metal sign before entering the bar. It took 12 minutes, because not all the gates were open for checking.
