How To Make Resume Searchable On Indeed

Why Careerbuilder Is Best For Applicant Tracking

Indeed: Creating Your Indeed Resume
  • Job posting and customized emails: You can send branded emails to applicants to invite them to interview, request background checks, and even invite passive job seekers to apply. You can send bulk emails too. Notices can also be sent to an applicants mobile device, and the app allows them to respond, fill out forms, and sign documents on their phone. Indeed has some communications tools, but not as many.
  • Screening: While both Indeed and CareerBuilder have pre-screening questions, CareerBuilders Employment Screening lets you order background checks or drug screening. Invites are sent to applicants who fill out state-specific forms that keep you on the right side of the law. You can track progress on these through the app or your integrated ATS.
  • Additional documents: CareerBuilder offers document management as part of its applicant tracking. It lets you create and save documents such as W4s, I-9s, offer letters, and other documents a candidate needs to review, fill out, or sign.

Note on cost: CareerBuilders applicant tracking system is an add-on to its job posting tools. Contact CareerBuilder for a quote.

Once you add documents, you can make them part of your hiring workflow.

What Happened To The Recommended Jobs Feature

Recommended Jobs feature has been discontinued

The Recommended Jobs feature will no longer be available for Job Seekers. Indeed is continually testing features and making changes to our site based on how well certain features help our users, and we have decided to discontinue Recommended Jobs.

Although there are no current plans to reinstate Recommended Jobs, we suggest using the Recent Searches feature on the homepage and creating Job Alert emails.

We may still continue to recommend new searches for you based on your previous searches through the Notifications Center, which can be found on the top right of the homepage.

Applicant Tracking Systems Are Everywhere

Most large corporations utilize applicant tracking systems. Jobscan research found that 98% of Fortune 500 companies use ATS while a Kelly OCG survey estimated 66% of large companies and 35% of small organizations rely on recruitment software.

There are dozens of different ATS, each with their own features, strengths, weaknesses, and quirks. Here are just a few of the top ATS:

CATS BambooHR

If youre applying to a large organization, chances are youll face an ATS. If youre applying through any online form, youre applying through an ATS. Even job sites like Indeed and LinkedIn have their own built in ATS.

Include A Resume Headline Summary And Additional Sections

To make you resume comprehensive, attractive, and more search-friendly, you should make the most use of the headline and resume summary options on your Indeed resume.

Add your current job position or the position you are currently targeting as your resume headline. Try to avoid any fancy terms, like guru or ninja, as they might emit an unprofessional vibe.

Keep in mind that your resume headline will display just below your name and above your contact information.

As for your Indeed resume summary, the standard resume summary writing rules apply to it.

A resume summary is a high-level summary of your career so far. If you cant cut and paste from your current resume, try to create a short paragraph containing four to five sentences as your resume summary.

The summary should describe your career highlights your core skills, strengths, and noteworthy professional achievements.

Tips For Job Searching During Covid

As you begin searching, applying and interviewing for jobs, here are a few best practice to keep in mind:

  • Keep up your momentum. Searching and applying for jobs can be a full-time commitment, so keep up your momentum by dedicating time to your search on a daily basis. It is best to set a daily or weekly application goal for yourself. Once you reach your goal, reward yourself in small ways such as reading a chapter in your favourite book, watching an episode of TV or doing an exercise video.

  • Be patient. Just as you are trying to get answers to make the best decisions for yourself and your family during this time, so are employers. As such, they may be slow to respond or may not respond at all. If you’re not hearing back, keep applying for new opportunities and follow up when possible.

  • Keep your job search toolkit updated. As you search, make sure your resume, cover letter and online profiles are up to date. Tailor your resume and cover letter for each job and consistently re-assess whether you are applying for jobs that are a good fit for your background and experience level.

  • Take advantage of COVID-19 job resources. The government as well as many organizations are developing free resources for people whose job has been affected by COVID-19, such as virtual career coaching. Do your research and make use of these resources.
