List Your Important Skills

How to write a sponsorship letter for your sports team

Consider making a bulleted list of your primary skills in your chosen field. A bulleted format can help you clearly present the capabilities you possess that apply to the responsibilities of a new position. Different career paths in the sports industry require varied skill sets, so it may be helpful to note skills that appear in job descriptions and incorporate specific keywords they use in your list. If you’re an athlete, you may include additional skills regarding your athletic abilities.

List Your Experience And Accomplishments

The experience page includes a list of competitions, workshops or camps in which you have participated. List the name, city and state of each event, as well as your role as either a competitor, coach or official. Structure it in reverse chronological order, with the most recent event listed first.

Your important accomplishments should be cited on the experience page. This would include significant wins, awards, certifications, past sponsorships, press coverage or paid public appearances. This shows the potential sponsor your visibility and high level of accomplishment in specific areas. If your sport is mountain biking or barrel racing, for example, your resume will show how long you have been active in the sport and your accomplishments along the way.

Cv Skills Example: The Highlight Reel

Sports Team Sponsorship Proposal Template Beautiful 10 ...

Dont underestimate the importance of this seemingly simple CV skills section. The skills portion of your sports and fitness CV is likely to be the first or second section a recruiter glances at. It is here that you bring out the skills and attributes that you think are most important for the job.

Of course, you need knowledge of your sport or activity as well as general health and exercise expertise. But what skills or attributes do you have that make you a great fit for the job?

Make an all-inclusive list of your skills and attributes that you can cull from when you personalize your resume for each job. Split the list into hard skills, or those skills you have learned on the job, and soft skills, or those interpersonal and organizational skills that enhance your talents.

List All Education And Key Training

Be sure to list any extra training youve had during your working career plus your main educational degrees.

Be sure you list your education in Australian terms. Ive written a post on how you can optimise your resume to be more Australian. I highly recommend you take a look at that post as the Australian educational system is different than the US and if you dont make the adjustment in your resume the recruiter may assume, incorrectly, that you dont have the educational background they are looking for.

To Finish Off Your Resume There Are Two More Sections You Need To Add

The first is Technical Skills and Personal Attributes.

In the past, Im sure I have included technical skills on my resume but have never had a special section just for listing out the technicals skills Ive acquired throughout my working career.

Now, personal attributes took me by surprise and Im certain that I have never added a separate section to list them, if at all. Nadine mentions in her course that it is a mistake not to include personal attributes as they can often turn into talking points during an interview.

The final section of your resume is for references.

I usually state that references are available upon request, but there really is no harm in listing your references straight off.

Obviously, you should let your references know that you are applying for a job in Australia as it might look odd getting an international call which brings me to my second point.

Be sure to include the international calling code for your references. Its a small but nice touch and saves the recruiter the time of looking it up.

Also be sure that the email address is valid and, when you can, use the work email address of the person you are using as a reference, preferably from a company listed in your work history instead of a personal email.

Alright, I think that covers it.

This post is part of a series of posts Ive written about finding job sponsorship for Australia.

Please, do not start sending out your resume until you have read through those posts.

Page 5 Activation Ideas

The fifth page of your sports sponsorship proposal is where your activation ideas go. Yes, activation ideas are technically an asset, but you want them on their own page so the target sponsor can go through them at their leisure.

As a sports team or organization, it should be easier for you to come up with activation ideas than most. You dont have some stuffy business convention to host, after all, but a sports game! Maybe you give away a signed jersey or gear as part of a contest or you have a VR booth where attendees can put themselves in the digital shoes of their favorite sports players.

You could even see who can kick a soccer ball the furthest, score the most basketball dunks, or achieve some other sports milestone.

Besides ensuring how fun your activation ideas are, you also want to keep the target sponsors goals in mind. Your activation should be done according to your sports teams budget as well.

List Your Work Experience In Detail On Page Two Of Your Resume

On page one, you have shown the recruiter that you are the best fit for the job by highlighting all your key qualities. Now you need to get into the real meat and potatoes of your work experience.

Compared to a US resume, this part will seem very long with way too much detail. Thats ok, its expected in Australia.

Heres an example of what you need to include in your work experience.

Preparing To Ask For Sponsorship

  • 1Determine your goals. What are you hoping to achieve with the sponsorship letter specifically? What do you want the business to do? What are you using the sponsorship for and why does it matter? Before you write a sponsorship letter, you should know the answers to these questions.
  • Sponsorship letters should be specific and focused. If they are too vague or you don’t know what you’re seeking or why, they won’t be very effective.
  • Understand why you want to meet the goals. Sponsorship requests are more successful if they are accompanied with a sense of purpose or passion. Convince people why it’s worth giving time or money to this cause, perhaps by telling them a story about how the cause has helped someone or the community XResearch source
  • 2Make a list of businesses. Who might have a motivation to support your cause? Maybe there’s a business owner who has a personal reason to support your goals. Or maybe there’s a non-profit that’s supported similar missions. Who has given to similar events? You need to research the field.
  • Make sure to include businesses or people on the list with whom you or others who work with you have a personal connection. Never underestimate the value of personal connections. XResearch source
  • Don’t overlook small businesses or those that don’t have storefronts. They might be willing to give, too. Remember that you can play up the “local” angle. Hometown businesses often see an advantage in remaining connected to their communities.
