If youre currently working a full-time job or have a busy schedule for other reasons, then you may not be able to hit an average of 5 to 10 job applications per day. Thats fine; simply do the best you can and focus on high-impact activities like networking.
While you may not be able to apply to as many job postings as someone who is unemployed, you have job income, which should make the job search less stressful financially.
You can also apply for jobs while at work, but this is risky and I am not recommending it. Im simply pointing this out as an option. Applying for jobs while at work is only something Id recommend if you work from home. Otherwise, the risk of being caught and terminated is too high.

Age isn’t always an advantage when you’re job searching, especially in a competitive job market. Hiring managers can view older workers as more expensive to hire, as having outdated experience or too much experience, or as not being current with today’s technology and workplaces – even though it is;illegal to discriminate based on age.
One way to overcome the perception that your age is an issue is to;”age proof”;and carefully edit your resume. Your resume isnt;your;CV,;so it doesnt need to include everything youve ever done.
How Many Years Of Experience To List On Your Resume
Do you have to include every job you’ve ever had on your resume? Not necessarily. When you have extensive experience,;you don’t need to list your entire;work history.

Show You’re Connected.;Include a;. This will show hiring managers you’re engaged in current means of communicating and networking. Depending on your usage, you may want to list your social media handles as well, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram but only if theyre up to professional scrutiny.
Polish Your Resume.;Presentation matters. Make sure your resume is polished and well presented. You don’t want your resume to look old-fashioned. Hire a resume writer or browse the various resume sites to find the latest templates that will give your resume a fresh;look.
In Addition To Jobs Include Your Educational History And Any Certifications
Writing a complete job history is a good place to start, but it’s not the only thing you should include on your resume. List your schools, degrees and any leadership positions you held while in college. You may also want to list any professional certifications you have earned and include the date to assure hiring mangers that your credentials are current.

The Ideal Length Is One To Two Pages
A resume that is more than two pages long is rarely necessary. Consider converting full paragraphs to bulleted lists, cutting job descriptions from your less relevant work entries or streamlining your skills list. Remember, your priority is clarity, so try to communicate all the necessary information as concisely as possible.
Chronological Detail Of Your Professional Success
In this section you will provide a chronological detail of your professional success, starting with your most recent job. Notice the word choices here, please. We are detailing your success. We are not listing your past job titles or duties. We are not describing your staff composition or budget size or administrative systems used.
Again, your résumé is a marketing document and needs to persuade your reviewers that time spent with you will be worthwhile, so we are going to detail your success.
You’ll have about 30-40 bullet points across all your current and past positions, and each of these will be a marketing bullet point that will make one persuasive argument on your behalf.
After you list company name, employment dates, and your title for each role, the bullet points will be distributed as follows:
- Your most recent, most important job gets eight bullet points.
- Your next job also gets eight bullet points.
- Your next two jobs get four bullet points each.
- Everything else all of your past jobs together, even if they were your favorite, most nostalgic, most enjoyable times in your life get just ten bullet points total. Nobody is hiring you today for the job you had a decade ago.
It’s important to note that this distribution is across each job or title, not company. So if you’ve been at the same shop for 20 years, you should be splitting up your 30 bullet points across the different job levels and titles you’ve had.
