Fg To Review School Resumption Plans

Barely a week to the proposed resumption of schools across Nigeria, the Federal Government has made a U-turn on the directive and announced that the date, January 18th, 2021, would be subjected to another review considering an upsurge in the number of COVID-19 pandemic positive cases recorded recently in the country.

The government added that from tomorrow, the Ministry of Education would commence a review of the date to determine when safe for schools to resume for the 2020/2021 second term across the country.

Announcing the new development on Monday at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 press briefing in Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said that the rising cases have become a source of worries to the government.

Adamu said,When we decided on that date, it was just a target toward what we are working on.

Of course we are keeping it in view and looking at what is happening in the society and then it is supposed to be subject to constant review.

Even today at the PTF meeting, we looked at the rising figures and thought we should probably take another look at it. On the Jan.18, 2021 date for schools ;resumption, we are reviewing it, he said.

Get In Touch With Nature Inside Or Out

The mental health benefits from interacting with green spaces are huge. If you can, go for a walk in a park or garden. But if thatâs not possible, bring the garden inside instead. âTry virtual tours,â suggests Robinson. âJust looking at green scenery has been shown to be beneficial. Growing things is also very therapeutic.â

Extensive research suggests gardening helps reduce anxiety and stress-related symptoms. You can still grow plants if youâre living in one room in block halls. Herbs such as coriander or rosemary are good for windowsills, and you can even get a houseplant after eating an avocado. Fill a glass with water, and put toothpicks in the avocado stone to suspend it on the rim, so the bottom half rests in the water. Make sure it has sunlight, and when the stone sprouts, pot some compost and watch it grow.

Secondary Education In Nigeria’s Rural Areas

Analysis: Exit Classes In Secondary Schools To Reopen August 4

In Nigeria’s National Policy on education it is stated that the federal government has adopted education as an instrument for effecting national development in all areas of the nation. Education in rural Nigeria is characterized with very poor infrastructure, insufficient academic staff, insecurity and non-payment of staff among others.

Education is fundamental to the growth and development, and serves as a critical index in measuring the process of the development agenda. However, rural schools in Nigeria are in a “sorry state” and it is a common knowledge that a majority of the population in developing countries like Nigeria live in rural areas, which are largely neglected by the government when it comes to development.
