How Safe Is Sailing

Disney Cruise Line wrote an advisory to guests, stating that it is resuming sailing in a gradual, phased approach that emphasizes multiple layers of health and safety measures. These have been developed under guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other medical experts.

While vaccinations are strongly encouraged, they are not mandated for guests on Disney Dream sailings from Florida. However, guests who do have proof of vaccination will be able to skip the necessary coronavirus testing. This testing is required before leaving home and at port, with negative results from both necessary to board the ship.

Face masks are required in most indoor public areas of the cruise ship for guests aged 2 and up and ship capacity has been reduced to allow for social distancing. Hand sanitizer stations have been set up throughout the ship, as well as on Disneys private island.

According to the cruise line, there will be twice-daily stateroom cleanings with extra attention paid to high-touch surfaces, plus new air purification systems are in place on the ship.

News: Disney Alaskan Cruises May Be Able To Resume By End Of Year

While travel to Disney World has almost fully resumed to normal levels, drawing crowds to the parks, the Disney Cruise Line still has yet to resume since closing in March 2020.

Disney has been working to set sail on their test cruise this summer and now theres been an update from the Canadian government that may mean that sailings can resume to Alaska in 2022.

Back in February, Canadian officials shared that they would be extending their cruise ban through February 28, 2022, which meant that the Disney Alaskan Cruises would not be able to sail again until at least that date . But, Canada is now moving that date up.

According to the Official Website of the Canadian Government, the Minister of Transport, Omar Alghabra, has announced that the cruise ship ban will end three months early on November 1st, 2021. This is due to the continuing decrease in the spread of COVID-19 in Canada and the compliance with safety measures from Canadians.

Cruise ships sailing through Canada will still have to comply with public health requirements, though they have not released more information on what that will involve.

The Disney Cruise Line has yet to comment on when the Disney Wonder could set sail again, but the removal of the travel ban is one step in that direction. Of course, well be keeping an eye out for more updates, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
