Racing Resumes At The Bullring At Las Vegas Motor Speedway

LAS VEGAS The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway gets back in action Saturday after a year-long absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bullring, in its 37th season , is set to resume under the supervision of TJ Clark, a former driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and previous instructor at the Bob Bondurant Driving School.

The Bullring has produced many great talents, including Kurt and Kyle Busch, Brendan Gaughan, Noah Gragson and Riley Herbst. Clark and his son Spencer raced in the Kyle Busch era, before Spencer lost his life in an automobile accident shortly after his successful NASCAR Busch Series debut in Las Vegas in 2006. Clark, who considers the Bullring his home track, has spent the past 10 years since Spencers passing propelling other young drivers in their racing careers, through the Spencer Clark Driven Foundation. TJ is taking on his new role as Bullring manager to ensure that short-track racing continues and is available to other racing star hopefuls.

I am thankful that Chris Powell believes in grassroots racings and has given me the opportunity to keep the Bullring going, Clark said. I believe short tracks are the heart of racing and we as a community need to support local grassroots racing and the Bullring. Were lucky. Ive seen a lot of tracks all across the country, and our Bullring is premier compared to a lot of the others.

Nascar To Resume Practice And Qualifying In 2022

Kyle Larson, left, and Chase Elliott lead the field before a NASCAR Cup Series auto race on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, in Avondale, Ariz.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. NASCAR will return both practice and qualifying to its weekend schedule for all three national series in 2022. The on-track activity had been mostly scrapped the last two seasons during the pandemic.

NASCAR traditionally hosted three-day weekends for its races but dropped all qualifying and practice when competition resumed in May 2020 following a 10-week shutdown due to the pandemic. Some practice sessions returned this year, and championship weekend this month at Phoenix was the closest yet to a pre-pandemic schedule.

We missed seeing cars and trucks on track all weekend long, and so did our fans, said Scott Miller, NASCAR senior vice president for competition. We worked closely with our broadcast partners, teams and racetracks to create an exciting, unique qualifying format, while keeping several of the efficiencies that helped our entire industry successfully navigate the pandemic.

NASCAR will use a knockout-style format for qualifying in 2022 that will vary depending on both track type and series. The Cup field be split into two groups for most races and participate in a two-hour practice and qualifying event. NASCAR will class six Cup races, five Xfinity Series races and and eight Truck Series races as expanded weekends.

Ryan Newman Says He Will Be Ready To Race When Nascar Resumes

NASCAR RESUME SC

Ryan Newman says he is fully healthy and intends to race once NASCAR can safely resume.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Ryan Newman said Sunday he will be ready to race when NASCAR resumes competition, which could be as early as May 17.

Newman suffered a head injury in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 17. The Indiana native spent less than 48 hours in the hospital before walking out holding hands with his two daughters.

Ross Chastain drove the No. 6 Ford in place of Newman for three races before the NASCAR season was suspended March 13 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking before NASCAR’s iRacing event Sunday, Newman said on Fox Sports that he will be ready to race when NASCAR calls drivers back to the track.

“That’s the absolute plan for sure. I am healthy,” Newman said. “I have been blessed with another layer of this situation giving me more time to heal, and I look forward to being back in the seat, for sure.”

On Monday, NASCAR medically cleared Newman to resume all racing activities. On Tuesday, NASCAR announced it has granted Newman a waiver to be eligible for the playoffs, were he to qualify. Attempting to qualify for all 26 regular-season races is a requirement for playoff eligibility, but NASCAR has traditionally granted waivers for a driver missing time due to a racing injury.

With The Summer Olympics Set To Be Broadcast On Nbc And Nbc Sports Network How Will Nascars Top Three Series Be Affected

The 2020 yes, the 2020 Summer Olympics are scheduled to begin on Friday, July 23, 2021, and they are scheduled to run through Sunday, August 8. They are set to be broadcast exclusively on both NBC and NBC Sports Network, two networks that broadcast quite a few NASCAR races.

So how will the Summer Olympics affect the NASCAR broadcast schedule over the next few weeks?

Fortunately, this was accounted for when the 2021 schedule was released late last September. Instead of the usual one-week break toward the end of the regular season, there is slated to be a two-week break in the Cup Series schedule.

The final race before this break is scheduled to take place this Sunday, July 18 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. NBC Sports Network is set to broadcast this race, and then there are no races on the schedule during the following two weekends.

Cup Series action is scheduled to resume on Sunday, August 8 at Watkins Glen International. NBC Sports Network is set to broadcast this race as well.

The Xfinity Series schedule will be affected, but only slightly. The final race before this break is scheduled to take place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 17. NBC Sports Network is set to broadcast this race, and once again, there are no races on the schedule during the following two weekends.

What Time Does The Nascar Race Start Today Tv Schedule Channel For Rescheduled Martinsville Race

This week’s answer to “What time is the NASCAR race today?” was initially different than the responses that were given for the first seven races of the Cup Series season. Now it’s very similar. We’ll explain.

The weekend race at Martinsville Speedway, the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500, began as the first night race of the 2021 campaign on Saturday. Rain forced NASCAR to postpone the event after 42 of 500 laps and will resume the race Sunday afternoon.

Night racing is a recent phenomenon at Martinsville. Track operators installed permanent lights in 2017 and the first Cup Series nighttime race at the facility was run last June. Martin Truex Jr. won it.

Below is all you need to know about the schedule for Sunday’s resumption of the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville.

Kyle Larson Says Formula One Finish That Made Max Verstappen Champion Not ‘particularly Fair’

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — NASCAR champion Kyle Larson‘s first Formula One race was the season finale, and he is as conflicted as anyone over the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen passed Lewis Hamilton on the final lap Sunday to win the title, but the turmoil has continued. A late crash wiped out a nearly 12-second Hamilton lead, Verstappen pitted under yellow for fresh tires, and the race was restarted with one lap remaining. Verstappen passed Hamilton in the fifth turn of a NASCAR-style shootout to win the race and the title.

“The race fan in me was like, ‘Man, I wish there would be a caution and this thing can get exciting in the end and produce some drama,'” Larson told The Associated Press. “And then it happened. Then I was like, ‘Well, I don’t know if that was particularly fair.'”

Hamilton led 51 of the 58 laps, and the race had been a bit of the bust after F1’s spectacular season. The seven-time champion seemed so in control that Larson and his group had already headed for the exits when the yellow flew with five laps go. They watched the finish on viewing screens placed around Yas Marina Circuit and on their phones.

Nascar Announces Start Times And Networks For 2022 Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Today NASCAR, FOX Sports and NBC Sports jointly announced 2022 race start times and networks for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series seasons.

Nineteen total NASCAR Cup Series races will air on FOX and NBC throughout the season. This marks the first time since 2009 in which more Cup Series points events will air on broadcast than cable. Ten of those will air on FOX, including the DAYTONA 500 and eight of the next nine points events to start the season. Bristol Dirt will air in primetime on Easter, while Talladega and the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway round out the races airing on broadcast during the FOX portion of the NASCAR Cup Series season.

Working with the broadcast partners, tracks, teams and industry stakeholders, we will be able to deliver the best racing in the world to an even broader audience in 2022, said Brian Herbst, NASCAR Senior Vice President of Media and Productions. Based on data and fan feedback from the past several years, shifting afternoon start times back allows more of our fans whether at home or at the track to take in NASCAR racing on Sundays. In addition, airing the most Cup Series races on broadcast in more than a decade is consistent with our strategy of distributing our content to as many fans as possible during key moments in the season.

Racing Resumes At Thunderhill After 11

By Brett BeckerDecember 5, 2021 11:06 AM

By Brett Becker | December 5, 2021 11:06 AM ET

Racing resumed early Sunday at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill Presented by Hawk Performance after an 11-hour fog delay. Racers were back on track at 5 a.m. and its sure to be a sprint to the finish.

A heavy fog that blanketed the road course outside of Willows, Calif., lifted overnight to allow racing to resume. When the cars returned to racing, Team Crowdstrike/Mosaic Motorsports took the overall lead away from Team One Motorsports 2 as of 6 a.m. Sunday.

Just one lap separated the two ESR cars, along with class competitor TVI Racing, who is eight laps back, but sits in third place overall at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Because of the fog delay, racing will continue until 3 p.m. today. The race was originally slated to end at noon Sunday. Heres a brief recap of where the classes stood at 6 a.m.:

When the action came to a halt Saturday evening, Team Crowdstrike/Mosaic Motorsports was two laps behind ESR leader Team One Motorsports 2. A misstep on the parade lap and a penalty for passing under yellow early in the race put the team on its heels in the first six hours of competition.

When the action resumed, the team put pro driver Colin Braun in the cockpit. Braun made up for lost time and put the team on top in class and overall, one lap up on Team One Motorsports 2. As the sun rose over Thunderhill Raceway, the stage was set for a sprint to the finish.
