Whether its related to your major or not, whether you are a part of Greek life or not, being involved or committed to a cause is extremely important. A resume summary statement, on the other hand, sums up who you are professionally at the top of the page in a sentence or two and serves as the first impression you give a hiring manager to entice them to keep reading.

Use The Right Keywords

The recruiter , will be scanning your CV for keywords. These are the specific skills and qualifications relevant to the role that you can find in the job posting. It’s important to mention these keywords in your CV , otherwise your CV has little to no chance of passing the ATS.

Streamline your CV so that you speak the same language as the recruiter. If the job posting highlights leadership experience as an essential skill, then make sure your CV includes the keywords ‘leadership experience’. If you were to write ‘management experience’, whilst still being applicable, the recruiter might not even see your CV if they are searching for the keyword ‘leadership’ in their ATS.

This section should include all extracurricular activities and interests that relate to the position you seek. This section is also very useful when you do not have much experience to work with.

Not everyone has relevant activities and interests and thatâs just fine. How To Apply For A Job That Requires Experience

True, most employers want to see work experience. But there will always be situations where candidates who are qualified may not have had a traditional trajectory in their professional lives. A lack of traditional work experience does not necessarily mean you are unqualified to apply.

Dont sell yourself short on experience. If youre a job candidate applying for a position that requires 5 years of experience, and you have a Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience, chances are high that you will qualify. Higher education can stand in for actual years of job experience.

First, consider that even if your experience isnt traditionali.e. traditional paying jobs within the sectorit may still add value to your resume. Volunteer positions, research, group collaborations, even a personal blog related to the job could qualify as experiences.

Using the functional resume format or the combination/hybrid resume format may also be helpful. They allow you to emphasize the skills that could qualify you for the position while putting less emphasis on your work experience.
