Insert A Background Picture Or Image In Word

  • On the Design tab, select Watermark> Custom Watermark.

  • Choose Picture Watermark and select a picture.

  • Select or clear Washout.

  • Select OK.

  • To put a watermark on only one page, create a custom watermark and save it to the gallery, remove the current watermark, then put it back on one page from the gallery.

    How To Use Layout Options

    Microsoft Words layout options for images lets you control how photos are displayed alongside text.

    To set up a pictures layout options, select the image, then go to Picture Format > Position. Select one of the pre-configured layout options to position your picture on the page.

    Picture Format

    Gain more control by going to Picture Format> Wrap Text.

    Select one of the text wrapping options:

    • Square – wraps text around the picture in a square shape

    Square

    • Tight – wraps text following the shape of the picture

    Tight

    • Through – shows text through all the open parts of the picture

    • Top and Bottom – wraps text only above and below the picture

    These text wrapping options allow you to overlay pictures in Word or merge them together into a collage-type layout.

    You’ve got other options:

    • Behind text. Overlays the text in front of the picture
    • In Front of Text. Places text behind the picture, covering it
    • Edit Wrap Boundary. Lets you fine-tune how text wraps around the picture, which is especially useful if its irregularly shaped
    • Move with text. Keeps the picture anchored to the text
    • Fix position on page. Keeps the picture on the same position relative to the page, even if the text moves
    • More Layout Options . Gives you precise control over the picture layout

    How To Save Your Resume

    Remember, once youve finished personalizing your resume, youre not ready to submit an application yet. To ensure your resumes format stays the same for everyone who receives it, save the document as a PDF. Best case scenario? Even the hiring manager wont believe your resume came from Word.

    Creating a Resume in Microsoft Word 2007

    You can insert a picture or photo into the body of an email message, instead of attaching the file. Inserting a picture requires that your message uses HTML formatting. To set HTML formatting, select Options> HTML.

  • In the body of your message, click where you want to add a picture.

  • On the Message tab, click Pictures.

  • Select the option you want to use for inserting pictures.

    The option helps you browse through existing photo sets on your computer, such as photos in iPhoto or Photo Booth. Picture from File lets you browse through your computer’s file structure to look for photos.

  • When you find the picture you want, drag it from the Photo Browser into your document, or click Open in the file browser.

    Resize the picture if necessary by clicking one of the handles that surround the picture and dragging it. Click the handle at the top of the picture to rotate it.

    Write Your Name And Contact Information At The Top

    Now that you have the template open, start by editing your resume header at the top of the page:

    At the very least, you should include your:

    • Full name
    • Phone number

    How Do I Add Different Sections To A Resume On Microsoft Word

    The way to create different sections on your resume comes in two parts:

    • Use an H2 header to create the section titles
    • Use the Normal style to create the body of text below the H2 header

    Here is a breakdown of how to use the H1, H2, H3, and Normal styles within your resume:

    Select the Styles window from the Home tab.

    From here, you will have options to create headers.

    Your heading options are as follows:

    • âHeading 1: Use this heading as your largest title. This is what you will use to write your name at the top of the page. Use a bolded font between 16 to 20 pt in size. Use 1.5 to 2.0 line spacing to help the title heading stand out.â
    • Heading 2: Use this heading to create your section titles. Use a bolded font size between 14 to 16 pt. in size. Make sure these headings are smaller than your title heading. Use 1.5 to 2.0 line spacing to help these headings stand out from the rest of the text.â
    • Heading 3: Use this heading to create your job titles. Your job titles should be only slightly bigger than the rest of the text. Use a bolded font between 12 to 14 pt. in size. Use between 1.15 to 1.5 line spacing.â
    • Normal: Use the Normal style to create the body text underneath the heading. Use a regular font between 11 â 12 pt. in size. Use between 1.15 to 1.5 line spacing.

    Insert Images Into A Circle A Heart Or Any Shape

    Break images out of their square boxes.You can create an image embedded in nearly any kind of shape in Microsoft Word. To see this feature at work, choose Insert, Shapes and select a shapesay, the ellipse. Hold the Shift key as you do this, to draw a perfect circle. Once youve selected the shape, theDrawing Tools tab appears. From the Format tab, select Shape Fill, Picture select a picture to use and click Insert. You can do this with any built-in shape. You can also create your own custom shapes by using the Curve or Freeform tools and then fill them with images, too.

    If your image looks out of proportion inside the shape, select the shape, right-click it, and choose Format Shape. Click the Crop option and, if your image is stretched so that everything is taller than it should be, increase the Picture Position: Width setting. Likewise, if the image is stretched so that it is wider than it should be, increase the Picture Position: Height setting. If you increase both the Width setting and the Height setting, you can adjust the position of the image in the shape by using the Offset options. DeselectRotate with Shape if you want the image to remain horizontal even if you rotate the shape.

    Using Default Menu Option

    Insert Picture Into Resume in Word (1 MINUTE | 2020)

    The last option to insert divider on a Word document is using horizontal line menu option available under Paragraph group under Home tab. However, this option varies in Word 2016 onwards and earlier versions.

    Word 2010 or Earlier

    • If you want to insert a fancy divider, choose the menu option click on the Horizontal Line button. On the popup box, select the divider style you want to insert.

    Word 2016 or Later
