Carnival Cruise Line To Resume Sailings From Mobile On October 21

2 Carnival cruise ships return to Galveston

For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic shut down the cruise industry in March, a cruise ship will sail out of Mobile with passengers on board.

But there is a catch for those cruises who are unvaccinated: You will pay $150 to be tested before and after the cruises. Also, on board youth programs will only be available to vaccinated children and youth ages 12 and older.

The Carnival Sensation, one of the Miami-based companys four upgraded Fantasy-class ships, will resume operations on October 21 from the Alabama Cruise Terminal in downtown Mobile. The cruise ships initial voyage will mark the first time one of the companys vessels has left Mobile with passengers on board since in early March 2020, during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

It will also mark the first time the Carnival Sensation was in Mobile since mid-May, when the cruise ship arrived to vaccinate the crew members who were on board.

We are very excited about our restart and greatly appreciate the support of our guests, travel agents and port and destination partners, said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line in a news release that announced the companys plans on Monday.

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson, in a statement, said the city and Carnival Cruise Line have been in communication so that were ready to meet their needs as a home port city when cruising starts in October.

Were excited to see a definitive date set for the resumption of cruises out of Mobile, Stimpson said.

When Will Carnival Lines Return To Service In The Usa

None of Carnival’s lines will sail until at least early October because all have extended their North American suspensions through the end of September, Frizzell said Thursday. That’s two weeks longer than members of the trade group Cruise Lines International Association agreed to remain idle and nearly two months beyond the expiration of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s “no-sail order,” which is scheduled for July 24.

Frizzell said the extended suspension has given Carnival extra time to finalize plans for health protocols and ship-capacity levels when it resumes operations. When its lines resume cruising, they are likely to take a phased approach, returning to sailing over time rather than all at once.

Carnival Cruises To Resume Operations March 5

MOBILE, Ala. – Nearly two years after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Carnival Cruise Lines is restarting operations in Mobile, Alabama. On Thursday, Al.com reported that Carnival promised all 22 of its U.S.-based ships will be back in operation by March 2022, with the Carnival Sensation sailing out of Mobile on March 5, the first Saturday of the month.

Mayor Sandy Stimpson said in a statement that the Mobile is thrilled by the news. He says cruising brings in $6 million in annual gross revenues to the city from wharfage and parking fees alone. Some of those funds are used to offset the existing debt on the Alabama Cruise Terminal, which is not expected to be paid off until 2030.

The Sensation replaces the Carnival Fantasy which had serviced the area from 2016 to 2020.

Carnival Glory To Sail From New Orleans For First Time Since Covid

Carnival Cruise Line announced Monday that Carnival Glory will resume guest operations from New Orleans on September 5 for the first time since March 2020 and COVID-19.

It’s one of three ships resuming operations in September, with another four set to sail in October, bringing the total number of operating ships to 15.

Currently, Carnival is operating under guidelines that say 95% of those on board must be vaccinated. While the cruise line will continue to welcome unvaccinated guests, those individuals, including children under the age of 12, must undergo pre-cruise and pre-embarkation testing and testing again before debarkation. Unvaccinated guests will also be charged a $150 per person charge to cover the costs of testing, Carnival says.

“The decision to sail with vaccinated voyages was a difficult one to make, and we recognize this is disappointing to some of our guests especially the many families with children under the age of 12 who we love to sail, and who love to sail with us,” said Duffy. “It’s important to remember that this is a temporary measure given the current circumstances. In consultation with our medical experts and advisors, we’ve determined this plan is in the best interests of the health and safety of our guests, crew and the destinations that we bring our ships to. It’s very important that we continue to maintain the confidence of our destination partners, so that we can provide our guests with the optimal cruise experience and sail our itineraries.”

Carnival Will Not Resume Cruises Until At Least October

Carnival Cruise Line to resume select cruise voyages in ...

Carnival Cruise Lines announced Monday it will continue a suspension of operations in North America through the end of September amid the spread of the coronavirus.

The cruise lines decision takes its suspension well past a US government-mandated prohibition on cruises. The CDC issued a 100-day no-sail order on April 15, which is set to expire on July 24. Its unclear whether the CDC will extend the order.

Cruise ships became the site of several early outbreaks of the virus, causing passengers on board a number of ships to be quarantined as officials tried to determine how to safely allow passengers to disembark.

The issue with outbreaks of COVID-19 have lingered on cruise ships as hundreds of crew members have remained quarantined on board ships for months.

Carnival is giving guests who wish to move their booking to a later date a rebooking offer that combines a Future Cruise Credit and either a $300 or $600 Onboard Credit that has proven very popular with their guests, Carnival said in a statement. Guests, as always, have the option to receive a full refund. The process is fully automated so that guests can submit their preference online and they have until May 31, 2021 to make a selection.

Whether Carnival is able to resume operations in October remains in doubt. Leading infectious disease experts expect cases in the fall to surge again.

MIAMICarnival Corp. is still on track to resume cruises in the U.S. on Dec. 1 after a favourable ruling from a federal judge Wednesday.

The company, on probation since 2017 after pleading guilty to dumping oil into the ocean for several years, will have to attest to the environmental protection status of each of the companys cruise ships 30 days before they re-enter U.S. waters to restart cruises, according to the order from U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida Patricia Seitz.

Carnival Corp. successfully fended off a stricter order proposed by the judge at a hearing on Friday that would have required ships to get her approval 60 days before re-entering U.S. waters which would have essentially derailed its plans to restart cruises from PortMiami and Port Canaveral on Dec. 1. For ships returning to U.S. waters before Dec. 31, the company can file its certification up to seven days after returning, Wednesdays order said.

In June, Carnival Corp. removed all of its ships from U.S. waters, partly due to a disagreement with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about how to best mitigate COVID-19 spread on board. The CDC banned cruises in mid-March amid COVID-19 outbreaks on multiple cruise ships, and their current ban remains in effect until Oct. 31.

Roger Frizzell, a spokesperson for the company, said it will be complying with the order going forward.

Carnival Again Extends Its Pause In Cruise Ship Sailings From Us Ports

Carnival Cruise Lines has again extended its pause in cruise ship sailings from the U.S. at least through the end of May.

It was in Marseilles to make physical preparations for other CDC protocol requirements, such as distance barriers and sanitization arrangements, as well as to screen crew members, many of whom are foreign nationals from countries with lower rates of vaccination than the U.S.

Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen declined to comment about the return of the Carnival Valor, the company’s second cruise ship sailing from the Port of New Orleans. The Valor has moved from port in Italy, where it was in dry dock for refurbishments, to Marseilles last week. The ship has been scheduled to return to cruise sailings from New Orleans in November.

Carnival said in a statement on Monday that in addition to Glory’s September resumption it would resume two other U.S. sailings in September — the Carnival Pride from Baltimore and Carnival Dream from Galveston.

In October, Carnival Conquest and Carnival Freedom will resume sailing from Miami, Carnival Elation from Port Canaveral, and Carnival Sensation from Mobile.

When including the sailings that have already resumed, that means half Carnival’s U.S. fleet will be back online by October, though at reduced capacities to comply with the CDC.

Carnival To Resume Cruises In Summer When Virus Order Ends

MIAMI

Carnival Cruise Line announced Monday it will start cruising again, from Florida and Texas, beginning in August. These Caribbean trips are the first announced by one of the major cruise lines since the coronavirus pandemic forced a near-total pause in the global cruise industry.

The ports of Miami, Cape Canaveral and Galveston, Texas were selected because they are accessible by car for the majority of the guests, the company said in a statement. The eight ships named by the company have itineraries showing stops in the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Mexico, among other places.

Carnival Cruise Line said ships will not be cruising from Alaska, Hawaii and Australia through Aug. 31.

The State Department began warning against cruise travel on March 8, and the CDC issued a no-sail order on March 14, which was extended and set to expire on July 24. The order prompted several countries, including some in the Caribbean, to reject cruise ships suspected of carrying infected passengers and crew members, stranding some ships at sea for weeks.

Many cruise ships had outbreaks at sea, with some passengers and crew members dying on board or after disembarking from international trips.

The CDC says infectious diseases can easily spread when crew members from a ship with an outbreak transfer to other ships. The health agency says outbreaks of COVID-19 on cruise ships pose a risk because they can spread the disease into communities across the world after disembarkation.

Carnival Cruises To Resume Alabama Operations March 5

MOBILE, Ala. Nearly two years after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Carnival Cruise Lines is restarting operations in Mobile.

Carnival said Thursday that all 22 of its U.S.-based ships will be back in operation by March 2022, with the Carnival Sensation sailing out of Mobile on March 5, the first Saturday of the month, AL.com reported.

Its great news, said David Clark, president & CEO of Visit Mobile.

We are thrilled, Mayor Sandy Stimpson said in a statement.

Alabamians are ready to cruise again and they want to do it from their home state, Stimpson added. That is why we have been working closely with our partners at Carnival to help clear the way for their return.

Stimpson said that cruising brings in $6 million in annual gross revenues to the city from wharfage fees and parking fees alone, and some of that money is used to offset the existing debt on the Alabama Cruise Terminal. During 2019 fiscal year, $3.1 million of the revenue was used to pay off terminal-related expenses, according to city figures provided to AL.com. The debt on the cruise terminal is not expected to be paid off until 2030.

The cruise ships return to Mobile had been pushed back twice by Carnival. Initially the sailings were to begin on Oct. 21. They were then postponed to January.

How Carnival Addresses Covid

Cruise News – Aug 2020- Carnival Cruise Line Resuming including The Mardi Gras!

Carnival hasn’t released a full plan for how its ships will combat coronavirus, but Donald noted some changes during Friday’s call.

As they restart operations, ships will not be full. Carnival will follow the social distancing guidelines that the country of operation has determined appropriate.

” probably start at less than 50% occupancy as we work out details,” Donald said.

The company hopes to ramp capacity up quickly, if it is safe to do so.

On July 28, Carnival will host a joint summit with the World Travel and Tourism Council, where Donald represents North America.

During the event, open to the public for viewing online, Carnival said, medical, epidemiology and public health experts will “explore and share the latest best practice on the science of COVID-19 and how best to address the many practical questions people have about the disease.”

Carnival Extends Sailing Suspension Through September

Carnival Cruise Line has extended its cancellation on future trips to September 30.

The cruise line announced Monday that it was extending its suspension of services, that was originally scheduled to end on August 1, due to the coronavirus.

“During this unprecedented pause in our business, we have continued to assess the operating environment and confer with public health, government and industry officials,” Carnival Cruise Line President, Christine Duffy, said in a press release.

The extension affects cruises aboard all 27 Carnival ships. Guests whose cruises are affected can either receive a refund or choose to rebook, which will give them a Future Cruise Credit in combination with either a $300 or $600 Onboard Credit.

Once we do resume service, we will take all necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our guests, crew and the communities we bring our ships to in order to maintain public confidence in our business, Duffy said. Nevertheless, we apologize for disrupting your vacation plans and appreciate your patience as we work through these decisions.

Carnival initially suspended its service for 30 days on March 13, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That pause has been extended three times since.

The CDC extended its No-Sail order once. It is now due to expire on July 24.
