Community halls across Brock will be available for private rentals once again in early 2022.

Closed since the start of the pandemic, the various community halls across the township will resume rentals as of Jan. 3, 2022, agreed councillors at their Dec. 6 meeting.

According to a staff report penned by Alicia Bagshaw, anyone renting a community hall must screen, contact trace and check the vaccination status of those entering the building.

When the event is finished, renters will also be required to carry out a light cleaning of the facility, including wiping down all touch points. Members of the community halls volunteer boards must then check over their respective facilities to ensure that the light cleaning was completed and that no damages occurred, said Bagshaw, Brocks recreation and leisure co-ordinator.

There will be no township staff on hand to ensure COVID-19 protocols are followed or to complete the light cleaning, Bagshaw told councillors.

We will not have staff on site at the rural halls to ensure that these things are happening. I guess were kind of going on the honour system here as we would with a typical rental pre-COVID. Pre-COVID renters were responsible for removing garbage and now we just ask that they wipe down touch points on their way out, said Bagshaw.

We dont have staff scheduled to be there to make sure that following rules. Were just hoping that these are our protocols and that is what they will follow.
