Carnival Cruise Line Announces Next Round Of Restart Plans

With eight of its ships already in guest operation, and more restarting in September and October, Carnival Cruise Line today announced the next round of details about additional ship restarts for November 2021 and beyond, according to a press release.

Carnival Valor will follow Carnival Glory in New Orleans with four- and five-night sailings starting on Nov. 1 Carnival Legend will restart Nov. 14 out of Baltimore, replacing Carnival Pride, which restarts guest operations from Baltimore Sept. 12 and then moves its homeport to Tampa following a Panama Canal repositioning cruise Carnival Radiance will have a new maiden voyage date of Dec. 13 out of Long Beach Carnival Pride’s new service from Tampa is scheduled to start on Nov. 14 Carnival Conquest’s restart from Miami on Oct. 8 has been rescheduled to Dec. 13 Carnival Sensation’s Oct. 21 restart from Mobile has been moved to Jan. 2022.

“We are very pleased with the progress of our restart which will grow to 15 ships sailing from seven U.S. homeports by mid-November,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We are making slight adjustments to our timeline to take into account supply chain realities and ensure that our destination and shore excursion offerings can meet the strong demand we are seeing from our guests. Our teams, ship and shore, are prepared to continue delivering on our great guest experience and manage all health and safety protocols.”

An exciting update by Carnival Cruise Line has revealed that all of their ships are set to return to the waves once more next year, as the cruise line looks to put the misery of the past two years behind them and make the most of the new year. Carnivals update also saw more of their itinerary for the coming years published, giving travelers even more choices when it comes to booking a cruise, as well as revealing more information about the cruise lines newest addition.

The update from Carnival the worlds largest cruise line comes hot on the heels of this weeks announcements by Norwegian Cruise Line, in which they launched a sale and published information about their future sailings. Heres a closer look at these latest news stories to come out of Carnival, including where theyll be sailing to and where their new ship will be based.

Carnival Horizon From Miami

Carnival Horizon became the second ship in the fleet to restart cruises operations and the first to resume from PortMiami, Florida. Just like her sister ship, the fun returned with a ribbon-cutting ceremony which wasnt just attended by the cruise lines president but also brand ambassador John Heald.

Heald had originally been denied to fly to the US to join the ship, but thankfully for the hundreds that booked the Carnival Horizon because he would be on there, that was resolved.

The vessel departed PortMiami on July 4 and became the first ship in the fleet to begin cruises from the cruise capital of the world. Carnival Horizons first sailing back is a six-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary including visits to Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic and the cruise lines private island of Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.

There was originally scheduled to be a call in Bimini, but that was canceled due to a curfew implemented on the island.

Carnival Freedom From Miami

After remaining on hold since March 2020, Carnival Freedom finally restarted operations on October 9 from the cruise capital of the world, PortMiami in Florida. Guests were welcomed back on onboard following a Back to Fun ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the ships captain and cruise director TJ Partida.

The Conquest-class ship resumed with an eight-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary including calls at Philipsburg in St Maarten, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic.

In addition, Carnival Freedom will be sailing six-day Eastern Caribbean cruises to Half Moon Cay, San Juan, and Amber Cove. There will also be a Southern Caribbean offering including visits to Aruba, Curacao, and the Dominican Republic.

Two More Cruise Ships Resume Sailings: Carnival Pride And Norwegian Escape

Carnivals Vice President of Guest Operations Sarah Beth Reno, Carnival Pride Captain Rino Costanzo, and Port Tampa Bays Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Raul Alfonso were all on hand for the fanfare and to officially welcome the first guests onboard.

A second ship, Carnival Paradise, will join Carnival Pride out of Tampa in March 2022.

Carnival Pride set sail Nov. 14 for a seven-day cruise to the Western Caribbean with stops in Costa Maya, Cozumel, Belize and Mahogany Bay. Carnival Prides offerings from Tampa include six-, seven- and eight-day Western Caribbean sailings.

Carnival now has more than half of its U.S. fleet in guest operations, and additional ships will resume service in the coming weeks and months. All 22 of Carnivals U.S.-based ships will be back in guest operations by March 2022.

Carnival Cruise Ships Currently Sailing

As the cruise industry makes a comeback, things will be moving fast as more and more Carnival cruise ships resume operations through the remainder of 2021. Were going to keep you updated and let you know what cruise ships are sailing now and bringing back the fun from various homeports around the United States.

So far, cruises have restarted with 15 ships with Carnival Vista out of Galveston, Carnival Horizon out of Miami, and Carnival Breeze became the third on July 19 out of Galveston. Carnival Miracle became the fourth to resume and the first in the fleet to begin Alsaka sailings from Seattle.

finally commenced sailings on July 31 out of Port Canaveral, Florida, rounding out the July ships that restarted. In August, the first ship to restart was the Carnival Magic, the second to resume out of Port Canaveral. Carnival Sunrise became the second to begin sailings out of Miami on August 14. On August 21, Carnival Panorama became the first cruise ship to restart sailings from California.

The CDC has been making some adjustments recently with relaxing masks and social distancing rules for vaccinated guests.

Norwegian Cruise Line still plans to restart in August from Florida but parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings recently filed a lawsuit against Florida on the states vaccine passport ban. The result of this could have an impact on any protocols the line implements.

The ongoing saga between the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Florida has still not been resolved. In fact, just recently, the CDC successfully got a hold on Florida being allowed to overrule its Conditional Sailing Order. On July 19, the Florida Governor said it will come out on top and could take its lawsuit against the CDC as far as the supreme court.

Carnival Sunrise From Miami

Carnival Cruise Line Plans to Resume Sailing from Texas in ...

Carnival Sunrise became the seventh ship in the fleet to restart operations and it comes after the Sunshine-class vessel has remained on hold for more than 17 months. The ship departed out of Miami, Florida on Saturday, August 14, and is also the second Carnival cruise ship to begin sailings from PortMiami, the cruise capital of the world.

The first cruise back is a five-day Western Caribbean and Bahamas itinerary that includes a call to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, marking the first cruise ship to return to the Caribbean islands since it closed to cruises in 2020. Bimini in the Bahamas is the second port of call with the vessel then arriving back home on August 19.

Carnival Sunrise will continue to offer four- and five-day Caribbean cruises for the remainder of 2021.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines

Original Update: The UK-based cruise line has announced an extension on cancelled cruises just like many other cruise operators. However, the cruise line has not announced a return date and is keeping it open.

Update 1: Fred Olsen has now announced some return dates for its ships towards the end of the year and into 2021.

Update 2: A lot has been going on with the British-based cruise line with two new ships purchased from Holland America Line and new return dates.

Update 3: The cruise line has decided to cancel cruises into 2021 due to the ongoing uncertainty around the world.

Update 4: Fred Olsen Cruises has announced more specific return dates for three cruise ships starting from the end of Spring 2021.

Update 5: In the latest cancellation update, the cruise line removed specific return dates for each ship and now expects all its vessels to start resuming sailings up until the end of June 2021. However, Braemar will remain on hold for much longer until Spring 2022.

Update 6: Fred Olsen will follow several other UK-based cruise operators by offering residents UK domestic sailings to nowhere. Borealis will be the first ship to start from Liverpool on July 5. She will then be followed by Balmoral and Bolette out of different homeports.

The Great Cruise Shutdown is finally coming to an end.

A growing number of cruise ships also are restarting operations in Europe and other destinations around the world, and small vessels have resumed operations on U.S. rivers and intracoastal waterways.

Still, only a very small fraction of the worlds cruise vessels are currently back to sailing. It could be many months before a majority of cruise vessels are operating, and some lines already have said it could be well into 2022 before they return to normal service.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a wrench into the launch plans for startup lines Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Virgin Voyages. Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has now pushed back its inaugural voyage to Nov. 10. Virgin Voyages has pushed back its big debut in Miami to the fall . Both lines were originally due to debut in 2020.

Carnival Magic From Port Canaveral

Carnival Magic became the sixth ship in the fleet to restart operations, and it comes after the vessel has remained on pause for 17 months. The ship departed on August 7 from Port Canaveral, Florida, on a five-day sailing including calls to the cruise lines private island of Half Moon Cay, the popular port of Nassau, and the stunning destination of Bimini, all located in the Bahamas.

The Dream-class vessel will continue to offer sailings to the Bahamas and the Caribbean well into 2022. The ship will have Carnivals Have Fun. Be Safe protocols in place to make sure everyone on board remains safe.

Carnival Magic is one of the most recently updated ships in the fleet and the first to receive the new red, white and blue livery during dry dock. The ship is all fresh and features a new non-smoking casino that has replaced the conference room.
