Viking Neptune itinerary program was announced by VIKING OCEAN in late-December 2020. The new ship is currently scheduled to start operations with a Viking World Cruise 2022-2023. The 138-day itinerary visits ports in 28 countries with overnights in 11 port cities.
Departing on December 22, 2022, from Port Everglades , Viking World Voyage 2022 visits ports in Central America, follows Panama Canal transit and sailing up North America’s West Coast. A 121-day segment allows travellers to join the cruise ship in Los Angeles CA, from where the itinerary continues to Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East, Europe ending in London-Greenwich, England UK.
Viking Neptune’s World Cruise itinerary offers overnights in 11 ports, including Auckland New Zealand, Sydney NSW Australia, Benoa Bali Indonesia, Saigon Vietnam, Singapore, Yangon Burma, Colombo Sri Lanka, Mumbai India, Haifa Israel, Istanbul Turkey and London-Greenwich . Curiously, in August 2021, Viking OCEAN announced a “double world cruise 2023-2024” with two ships sailing on an identical itinerary from Florida to the UK. While Viking Neptune departs on December 23 , Viking Sky departs earlier , sailing in parallel with Neptune.

On August 31, 2019, Viking Sun started the 245-day “Viking World Voyage 2019” spanning 6 continents and visiting 51 countries via 111 call ports . The London City roundtrip itinerary was officially listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s “longest continuous passenger cruise”.

Update: As of early June, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has begun approving select cruise ships for simulated trial voyages and limited sailings, based on their compliance with guidelines set forth in the Framework for Conditional Sailing Order. The CDC has issued an order that all passengers and crew members aboard maritime vessels must wear face masks unless otherwise exempted. The organization also recommends passengers get a COVID-19 vaccine prior to cruising, though it is up to individual cruise lines to determine their own vaccination requirements at this time.
After more than a year stuck on dry land, cruise lovers may be itching to hit the high seas again on their favorite cruise lines. In mid-July 2020, Viking Ocean announced the company’s “Viking World Cruise 2021-2022” planned for MS Viking Star. The 136-day itinerary visits 56 ports in 27 countries, with 11 port city overnights and 3x new for Viking cruise ports .
The voyage starts from Port Everglades on December 24, 2021, and ends in London City England. Signature destinations include Central America, Panama Canal transit, USA West Coast, Hawaii, Transpacific crossing to New Zealand and Australia, Asia, Middle East, Suez Canal transit to Europe and the UK.
Shorter itinerary segments are also available for booking, including the 119-day “Viking World Horizons 2022” that visits 49 ports in 22 countries.
Both packages are priced from USD 50000 per person . Bookings made by September 30, 2020, receive USD 2000 pp in “shore excursion credit” plus USD 1000 pp in OBC .

Cruise operators arent likely to resume sailings from U.S. ports until the second half of 2021 under the best of circumstances, and possibly not until early 2022, one industry analyst says.

Princess Cruises: Resume Sailing July 25
Princess has been the cruise line perhaps most impacted by the crisis. At least two of its ships had virus outbreaks in the early days of the crisis, leading to headlines around the world.
It also made the news by being the first major cruise line to announce a voluntary suspension of cruising, which was quickly followed by other lines. Princess originally announced it would stop all cruises from March 12 through May 10, 2020. Of course, that’s now been extended multiple times.
Princess paused operations through most of July, but now plans to sail from Alaska, departing Seattle starting July 25 aboard Majestic Princess — 500 days after stopping sailing in 2020.
What Safety Measures Will Be In Place
With coronavirus measures constantly changing, it is difficult to predict exactly what cruises will look like, especially in the United States.

Crystal Cruises: Cruising As Of July 3 2021
Crystal Cruises resumed sailing in early July with a luxury Bahamas itinerary. On Crystal Cruises‘ two ships Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony travelers will be protected during all parts of their journey by the Crystal Clean+ program. The initiative includes COVID-19 testing and temperature screenings during check-in, numerous health questionnaires, face mask policies, social distancing and reduced capacities, high-tech cleaning methods, hospital-grade disinfectants, new fresh-air ventilation systems, contactless dining protocols and more. Carnival Cruise Lines: Resumed Sailing July 3
Carnival — arguably the world’s most famous cruise line — wasn’t the first cruise line to return to sailing from the United States. However, it was among the earliest to return.
Its first cruise from the U.S. departed Galveston on July 3, 2021 aboard Carnival Vista. It was followed the next day by Carnival Horizon, sailing from Miami. Now the cruise line plans to have 15 ships sailing by the end of October, with the vast majority of passengers sailing vaccinated.

Will Vaccinations Be Required
Some companies are reluctant to depend on testing alone, after the SeaDream 1, a ship that had aspired to be a model for a safe return to cruising, cut short its Caribbean voyage last year because several passengers tested positive for the coronavirus, despite the fact theyd had a negative test before boarding.
Most major cruise lines have not decided whether they will require vaccinations for future sailings and are waiting for further scientific guidance once inoculation becomes more widespread around the globe.
In Britain, Saga Cruises and P & O said that they would require all guests to be fully vaccinated before boarding their ships throughout 2021. Royal Caribbean announced sailings from Israel to Greece in May, where all crew members and passengers over the age of 16 must be vaccinated.

The trade group for the world’s biggest cruise lines on Wednesday called on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to allow a phased-in resumption of sailings from U.S. ports in early July.
In a press release, Cruise Lines International Association President Kelly Craighead argues the CDC’s stance does not reflect the current conditions of the pandemic or the accelerated rollout of Covid vaccines.
The cruise lines said the early July time frame is in line with President Joe Biden‘s goal for when the U.S. will be “closer to normal.” In his first prime-time address to the nation as president, Biden said earlier this month that Americans should be able to gather in person with their friends and loved ones in small groups to celebrate the Fourth of July.
With hotels, casinos and airlines starting to see a recovery in bookings, most cruise ships remain idle, waiting for the CDC to make a decision on when to let U.S. sailings resume. It’s now been over 12 months since the cruise lines suspended all U.S. sailings due to Covid.

Cruise lines were impacted very early on when the crisis of the virus first started erupting in China early in the year. The CDC has now lifted the cruise ban, but there are very strict guidelines that must be in place. From onboard labs, frequent testing, and cruises limited to 7 days or less, to mock cruises, there is a lot to be done before cruises can resume. The cruise lines have begun to prepare their ships and implement procedures to meet all of the requirements to receive approval to sail in the near future.
Encouraging progress is being made on the distribution of vaccines and the reduction of new cases globally which are contributing positively towards recovery. Cruise lines feel like they will be able to resume sailing in early summer. For all cruisers to feel confident in booking for the summer of 2021, most cruise lines have implemented a policy where you can cancel up to 48 hours before your trip and a future cruise credit will be issued so that you can sail at a later date. The main exceptions are groups and charter trips.

Silversea Cruises: Cruising As Of June 18 2021
In mid-June, Silversea Cruises embarked on its first voyage since the pandemic began. As the line continues to resume more of its sailings, guests should expect to provide a negative COVID-19 test result taken between 24 hours and five days pre-cruise to board. Masks will be required in indoor public areas, sanitation efforts will be enhanced throughout the ships and physical distancing will be encouraged. Upcoming Silversea itineraries only include low-risk ports of call, and medical staff will be on each ship to help any passengers who feel ill. Norwegian To Resume Cruises In With Covid Vaccine Required
Norwegian, which announced a vaccine requirement for all passengers and crew on all of its ships in April, expressed its commitment to safety and to working with the CDC when ticket sales were announced.
“We remain optimistic that by working with the CDC and local port and government authorities in the destinations we visit that we will be able to resume safe cruising in the U.S. this summer,” a Norwegian Cruise Line spokesperson said to Alaska’s News Source on Tuesday.
Tickets are on sale for Alaska itineraries on the company’s Norwegian Bliss ship starting Aug. 7 through the end of the season sailing from Seattle, according to a news release shared Monday. The statement from the cruise line did not specify what the end of the season would be. In the past, ships have visited southeast Alaska into September.

Oceania Cruises Resumes Sailing

Sirena resumes sailing in the Caribbean on Jan. 21, 2022, and Regatta will start sailing on Feb. 5, 2022, in Polynesia followed by Nautica in the Mediterranean on April 1, 2022.
All Oceania Cruises voyages are operating with a requirement that 100% of guests and crew are vaccinated.
Azamara Club Cruises: August 28 2021
Recently sold by Royal Caribbean Group to a private equity firm, Azamara Club Cruises intends to resume voyages on its roughly 700-person cruise ships starting late this summer. The brand has established a Healthy Sail Panel and is working with partners like the Cruise Lines International Association and government health officials to finalize its coronavirus preparedness plan prior to the above sail date.
