‘the Good Doctor’ Season 4 Release Date: Will There Be Another Season Of The Abc Show
The Good Doctor‘s current season comes to an end on March 30, with one cast member hinted to die in the second part of the season’s climactic two-parter. Things might be over for one character, but the show is set to continue, with ABC renewing the series for Season 4 in February 2020.
In a statement, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said: “The Good Doctor has been a cornerstone on Monday nights and is one of those special heartfelt series that fearlessly tackles inclusivity. David Shore’s thoughtful storytelling, combined with an incredible cast led by Freddie Highmore’s nuanced performance as Dr. Shaun Murphy, are what have made this series a breakout hit over the past three seasons, and I’m excited to see where they take us next.”
Sony Pictures Television co-president Jason Clodfelter added: “We are incredibly thankful to ABC for all their continued support and to David Shore for bringing The Good Doctor to television at the exact right moment the show’s complicated, surprising and emotional journey is the perfect prescription for right now.”
The previous seasons have all aired on the penultimate Monday of September in 2017, 18 and 19 respectively. As such, all going well, the release date of The Good Doctor Season 4 will be Monday, September 21 on ABC.

In August 2014, it was reported that NBC had purchased a comedy pilot script written and executive produced by Highmore and Bates Motel showrunner Kerry Ehrin. In 2015, he appeared in the Libertines‘ music video for “You’re My Waterloo”. In 2016, Highmore starred in Stephen Poliakoff‘s BBC Two seven-part miniseries Close to the Enemy and Nick Hamm‘s political comedy-drama film The Journey. The following year, he began the lead role of Dr. Shaun Murphy in the ABC drama series The Good Doctor, on which he also serves as a producer and director. In 2017, he received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his performance.

Who Is In The Good Doctor Cast For Season 5
Freddie Highmore plays the good doctor! He returns as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a brilliant young surgeon whose autism makes it difficult for him to foster relationships with his colleagues and patients yet despite his difficulties he works through friendships, professional relationships and allows himself to fall in love.
Hill Harper plays Dr. Marcus Andrews, an attending plastic surgeon and board member at the prestigious St. Bonaventure Hospital. He first serves as the head of the surgical department and later as hospital president when Dr. Glassman steps down to fight brain cancer. Dr. Andrews is one of many doctors who have gone to bat for Dr. Murphy. He continues to provide emotional support to Shaun and Lea.
Richard Schiff is Dr. Aaron Glassman, Dr. Murphys friend, mentor, and father figure. He put his job as hospital president on the line for Dr. Murphy, beat brain cancer , navigated a rocky personal relationship with his wife, Debbie , and is back working as a surgeon at St. Bonaventure and supporting Dr. Murphy.
Christina Chang returns as Dr. Audrey Lim, the chief of surgery and an attending trauma surgeon.
Fiona Gubelmann is Dr. Morgan Reznick, an outspoken and competitive young medical resident who works closely with Dr. Murphy. Despite her own medical difficulties, shes finding her own footing, both personally and professionally.

When Will The Good Doctor Return
ABC have yet to formally announce when exactly The Good Doctor will continue Season 5 but a teaser trailer played out on air after the end of Episode 7 gives us a vague timeline.
The previews for Season 5 Episode 8, which is currently untitled, revealed that The Good Doctor will return in the Spring. This means the earliest the show will return is March.
It hasn’t been confirmed which date exactly The Good Doctor will return, but it will likely take its place in the Monday night line-up as usual on ABC.

The Good Doctor 2020 Return Date: When Does Show Come Back For Season 3 Episode 11
The Good Doctor hung up his stethoscope for the festive period after the midseason finale on December 2. However, now that were well into 2020, the series is set to return very soon.
Episode 11 of Season 3 has been named Fractured and continues where the last episode left off with our medical savant having to cope with some dramatic and emotional themes. In the previous episode, Shaun took friend, Lea , with him when he went to see his estranged and dying father.
After some venomous words from his father, a distraught Shaun allows himself to be comforted by his best friend Lea, and it remains to be seen if this affects his relationship with Carly .
Fractured will deal with the aftermath of Shaun and Leas intimacy. In the promo, Shaun tells Aaron that Lying in bed with felt different than it does with Carly. Is he going to break up with Carly?
We can assume that Carly might have some questions for Shaun, and in the promo, she starts with, Is there anything going on with Lea that youre not telling me?
In a medical subplot, the team of doctors struggle with a patient who is refusing to accept any anesthesia during surgery for fear they may relapse.
The episode was written by Mark Rozeman and directed by Gary Hawes. It will guest star Milauna Jemai Jackson as Kerry Gaston, Moises Arias as Luca Jones, Kelly-Ruth Mercier as Dr. Donna Malkin, among others.
The Good Doctor returns Monday, January 13 at 10/9c on ABC.
What Happened In Season 4 Of The Good Doctor
Season 4 began with the hospital being hit by a cyberattack that threatens to shut down life-saving machines. Lea rises to the challenge by looking to outsmart the hackers. Meanwhile, the team treats an inspirational cancer survivor-turned-successful philanthropist who harbors a dark secret, in the premiere episode directed by Highmore.
Former rivals, Dr. Morgan Reznick and Dr. Alex Park began to bond in season 4, especially after they become roommates when he decides his marriage is finally over. While originally concerned about becoming romantic, the season 4 finale set the stage for the two to seriously date. Another storyline that could be picked up in the new season is the PTSD being suffered by Dr. Lim , after months of watching her patients die from maladies compounded by the pandemic.
Much of season 4 focused on Shaun and his relationship with girlfriend, Lea, her pregnancy, miscarriage and its implications on their relationship. The season ended with a team from St. Bonaventure traveling on a medical mission to Guatemala.
While in Guatemala, Dr. Lim makes a significant connection with a man at the hospital, Dr. Mateo Rendón Osma , leaving the door open for a possible romance.

What Will Happen In The Good Doctor Season 5
The footage from the Episode 8 preview suggests the story will pick up directly from the events of Episode 7 where Shaun is blamed for the death of a baby. However, Dr. Lim knows it’s the fault of new hospital owner Salen Morrison. This is due to Salen’s cost-cutting measures which meant the medication Shaun used for the baby was expired.
Even though he was considering a move to Montana, Dr. Glassman could stay at St. Bonaventure a little longer after an emotional talk with his ex-wife Ilana Reeves. We also saw how much Shaun still relies on him after his emotional breakdown after the death of the baby.
Shaun and Lea’s relationship will have to be addressed as well after Shaun told her in a fit of rage that he couldn’t marry her after she lied to him.
Elsewhere, Alex and Morgan, or as the fans have affectionately dubbed them “Parnick,” look back on track after their dispute.
Why Isnt The Good Doctor On This Week
Despite having only shown three episodes at the start of 2021, The Good Doctor is on another break.
A new instalment will not be shown on ABC tonight in its usual time slot.
In its place will be a repeat of The Good Doctor season fours first episode Frontline Part One.
The drama isnt going to be returning the following week either so presumably Frontline Part Two will air instead on Monday, February 8, on ABC.

Will The Entire Cast Return For Season 4
Obviously, Nicholas Gonzalez won’t be returning as Dr. Melendez for Season 4. But that doesn’t mean the show is going to gloss over his death. The trailer shows Antonia Thomas’ Claire mourning Dr. Melendez’s death and saying, “He changed me, and that’s not going to go away.”
The clip also featured Will Yun Lee as Dr. Park, so apparently he’ll still be featured in some capacity despite his plans to leave town.
It looks like the rest of our favorite stars will be returning as well, along with several fresh-addition first-years. The newcomers, who Shaun will supervise, include Dr. Olivia Jackson , Dr. Asher Wolke , Dr. Enrique Guerin , and Dr. Jordan Allen .
‘the Good Doctor’s Newest Surgeon Departs Abc Medical Drama
Lea was packed and headed to Hershey but the woman with a newborn baby at the hospital, whose image had triggered a new wave of grief for Lea in Part 1, asked her to help her with the baby who was having respiratory problems. Lea, with some assist from Shaun, cared for the baby girl who, after some scary moments, was OK.
Shaun made a video call to Glassman admitting that he was not doing well at all.Lea is sad and I dont know how to make her less sad, Shaun said.
Glassman, who is going through major marital problems, did not offer advice. Ive always loved that you have asked me for advice and I always will but Ive noticed the last while, youve needed me less and less, Glassman said. It got me thinking you can do anything, you are good at this, better than you think.
Most doctors faced unforeseen obstacles during their surgeries.
Shaun was in the middle of a risky operation when the power suddenly went out, and he had to rely entirely on his feel.
Claires patient, a mom with gallstones, turned out to have gallbladder cancer. Removing the tumor would require three times the time allotted for the surgery. She asked Dr. Audrey Lim and Dr. Andrews to step in but neither could help without endangering their own patients. Despite Claires lack of experience she had never led such a complex surgery we should let her keep going, Lim said, noting that the woman would die without the surgery anyway. Claire gives her a fighting chance.

When Will The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 8 Air
Although no specific date has been announced, The Good Doctor wont return with season 5 episode 8 until spring 2022.
This was revealed by the forthcoming installments promo, so the earliest we can expect it back on the air is March.
Back in season 4, there was a break for around a month and a half after episode 5. That was the longest it went on hiatus during the previous season, so this is a particularly long wait, to say the least.
While the reason behind such a long absence hasnt been announced, its likely that the cast and crew are working on new episodes after having filmed the early segment of the season. This isnt actually as uncommon as it sounds.
